An original wallhanging "painted" with luxury textiles and trims in the "arts and crafts" style. The focus is a tree of life created with individual tapestry leaves with edges hand over cast with yarn and detailed with tassels and wooden beads. A tapestry vine with varigated yarn edges climbs a machine quilted tree trunk on a hand quilted cotton print featuring oak leaves. A variety of leaves, "real" oak leaves, and tapestry leaves flutter to the base of the tree. The whole image is framed by multiple borders which are outlined with rich velvet, suede and woven trims. The upper and lower borders are in damask with "real" oak leaves appliqued to the surface with wooden bead detail. The corner squares are in silk with appliqued maple leaves and the side borders are in a traditional woven print tied with brass eyelets. The whole piece is bordered with a regency stripe and the tabs are in damask lined with a regency stripe. The wallhanging is interlined with cotton and the back is in a plain kaki textile.
